Background:
The ‘Waste solutions for Circular Economy in India project’ is supported by a joint climate action program-NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action) Facility-set up by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) of the United Kingdom (UK), European Union (EU) and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). This is a 5-year project which will operate in 5 lighthouse locations- Patna, Varanasi, State of Goa, Bengaluru & Tiruchirappalli with local and state governments as partners. GIZ will act as the NAMA Support Organization (NSO) for the project and will be responsible for the delivery of funds, services, and financial and administrative management of the project.
The project aims to initiate a sector-wide transition towards low-carbon waste management technologies in line with circular economy principles. There are two main components of the project, first, Financial Assistance (FA) which include Grant Funding Mechanism (GFM), and Risk Sharing Facility (RSF) which will assist waste processing plants through partial capital/operational funding and debt support, second, Technical Assistance (TA) component which will assist in awareness, technical advisory, and capacity building activities at the state level on low carbon solutions for waste management. The project will operate in all the mentioned cities to facilitate the implementation of these components to pilot and replicate low carbon solutions for waste management.
Purpose of the Tender:
The BBMP has requested the project to support in procurement of the necessary waste management equipment to improve, upgrade and augment existing capacities of the DWCC that operate in Bengaluru. The procurement will support the corporation in catering to additional MSW handling capacities and improve the operational efficiencies of the existing facilities.
Equipment: Bailing unit: Bailing unit will be used to bail (compress the dry waste) and help in transportation and recycling. Conveyor Belt unit: This will be used to transport/ move the waste and reduce labor while massively increasing productivity and time efficiency also protects workers from causing any injuries. Stacker unit: This will be used to stack the waste in DWCC.
